A test for the ideas of the 1st design projects of 42 students. A small vegetable garden at home or at school can teach children to relate to nature. Slender wooden stakes and long brightly-coloured ropes serve as a bridge. They support the growth of the vegetables. During the workshop and later at home, the child will be able to build a frame structure in space for the beans, tomatoes and cucumbers to climb up.
Il laboratorio di design tridimensionale a Helsinki. Al World Design Capital Pavillion, nel cuore del centro storico della capitale finlandese si sperimenta l’autocostruzione per l’infanzia. Un piccolo orto domestico può aiutare il bambino a relazionarsi con la natura. Sottili listelli di legno e lunghe corde colorate fanno da ponte. Affiancano la crescita di ortaggi e verdure. Durante il workshop e poi a casa il bambino potrà realizzare una struttura spaziale dove fagioli, pomodori e cetrioli possano arrampicarsi.
The University of design at San Marino
In the area of design, the Università degli Studi di San Marino offers a three-year Undergraduate Programme in Industrial Design and a Graduate Programme in Design, held in collaboration with the Università Iuav of Venice. The title and certification for the degree awarded by the University at the completion of the final thesis project in the Undergraduate Programme is the ‘Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design’. This degree is legally recognized in Europe as well as in the Republic of San Marino. The director of the Undergraduate Programme in Industrial Design and of the Graduate Programme in Design at the Università della Repubblica di San Marino is Alberto Bassi.
University Programmes in Industrial Design
The University of the Republic of San Marino, in collaboration with the IUAV University in Venice, opened a three-year Undergraduate Programme in Industrial Design at San Marino, which began in 2005. The programme has a limited enrolment of 100 full-time students per year, and class attendance is mandatory. The programme is open to students who have earned their diploma or equivalent certification indicating completion of their secondary school studies, and who have passed the admissions entrance exam. The degree is awarded upon completion of courses for a total of 180 credits. The didactic organization offers a curriculum featuring multi-disciplinary design studios – with experiences in the design of industrially-manufactured objects and visual communication -, classes held by lecturing professors, workshops, internships in professional firms or manufacturing companies, and final thesis projects. The faculty of the University’s Industrial Design Department includes internationally renowned designers, such as Riccardo Blumer, Sergio Menichelli, Massimo Pitis, Gianni Sinni, Omar Vulpinari and Marcello Ziliani, Stefano Rovai, Angelo Micheli, Luigi Mascheroni.
Graduate Programme in Design
The Graduate Programme in Design, held in collaboration with the Università Iuav of Venice, is organized into two courses of study dedicated respectively to Motion Graphic Design and Product Interaction Design. The changing context of contemporary design, characterized by the growing number of multimedia tools and digital devices, makes it indispensable to offer a specialized university education that can address these new areas of design with a critical and responsible approach. The curriculum was developed in consideration of the most advanced university programmes at an international level, of the reality of manufacturers and the demands of the job market. The Graduate Progamme admits 50 students selected.
